Reproductive Physiologist

Dr Craig Turczynski was born in Chicago, IL and raised on a farm in Iowa. Farm life spawned a fascination with the natural world. He had a keen interest in animals and the important but diverse relationship that humans share with different species. That compelled him to complete a B.S in Animal Science at Iowa State University. Shortly after completing his degree he felt the desire to further his education and pursued a Ph.D. in Physiology of Reproduction at Texas A&M University studying under Dr Duane Kraemer, DVM, Ph.D.
Dr Kraemer’s lab studied assisted reproductive technologies in both exotic and domestic species and Dr Kraemer is well known for being the first to have a successful embryo transfer birth in a baboon and a dog and the first to clone a pet species. Click here to learn about CC, the domestic cat. His research provided an important observation that even genetically identical clones are unique individuals.
Craig’s dissertation research involved studying testosterone levels and fertility in male elephants. Male elephants are a good animal model for studying the physiological and psychological effects of testosterone.
After graduation he went on to do a post-doctoral fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the Women’s Research Institute in Wichita, KS. There he did endocrine basic science NIH research on the ovary and oviduct and worked as the associate director of the human in-vitro fertilization lab. It was during this time that intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) swept into the IVF field and Craig performed the first successful ICSI procedure that resulted in pregnancy for the Wichita, Kansas IVF program. The shortcomings of this procedure were immediately apparent to him.
After completing his post-doctoral fellowship Craig became an Assistant Professor of ObGyn at Louisiana State University Medical School-Shreveport where he developed and directed their clinical hormone, andrology, and IVF laboratories. But due to conflicts with the aggressive use of the technology and his Catholic faith he left his IVF career 6 years later, and found work in medical sales just to support his family. Not fully fulfilled by this profession, he subsequently received training in fertility awareness based methods (FABM) and restorative reproductive medicine (RRM) including Billings Ovulation Method®, Creighton, FEMM and NeoFertility. He was excited to find a community of professionals that sought the root cause of reproductive failure and therapeutic cures.

Dr Turczynski now serves as the Director of Strategy and Scientific Affairs for the Billings Ovulation Method Association-USA, and provides male fertility coaching services on the My Catholic Doctor and FEMM telehealth platforms. He has reignited his passion for science, teaching and research by completing a second post-doctoral fellowship in restorative reproductive medicine with Dr Phil Boyle at NeoFertility in Dublin, Ireland and is re-certified as an andrology laboratory scientist. His experience and training results in him being asked to speak or consult in areas such as male infertility, fertility awareness, restorative andrology, assisted reproductive technology, restorative reproductive medicine, and embryo adoption. Completing a certificate in health care ethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center helps him to navigate these areas of science with Catholic moral teaching.
Married to a legal immigrant from Mexico since 1989, Craig and Rosa DeGuadalupe have 3 children and 3 grandchildren, and they live on a small farm in North Texas where they enjoy the culinary experience and health benefits of producing farm to table food. Craig believes in the intersection of virtue and science and aligns himself with people and organizations that seek the root cause of disease.
